Twenty Years An Artist

Twenty Years An Artist

A SOLO SHOW OF NEW WORK, SCOTTSDALE NOVEMBER 2014: It was as if, in a moment, it was the first time I opened my eyes, the first time I could hear, the first time I knew what I was meant to do. Twenty years ago in Monument Valley Arizona on New Year’s Day 1994 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon in front of Thunderbird Mesa my epiphany came upon me: “You will paint, you are an artist now”. It was a feeling that filled me with an unexplainable vision and clarity, things were different now.

Very quickly technique and style came to me as I tried all sorts of paints and mediums. And I had to accept that I was merely the “brush” from which creativity flowed. But I drew from my desert origin to express the story in each of my paintings. Now, twenty years and more than 1500 paintings later, I know I am nowhere near done being an artist.

So I invite you to come see my newest work and celebrate with me my first twenty years and my next twenty years as an artist. See the Avalanche Show post for images of the show work.

Opening Reception is Thursday November 6, 2014. Contact the gallery for details.
